Week 6 Assignment - Flickr
I'm a bit behind on my assignments, perhaps it is because I got lost in Flickr looking for a photo to blog about. I thought 'Book Art' would be an interesting tag to explore, but 40,000+ images was just too many to absorb. I did finally find one image that interested me, but now I can figure out how to link it to my blog. I'm still trying but wanted to get my assignment in. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Survey - What's your genre?
Hard to pick isn't it? I'm interested in what area you would consider your 'Favorite' and also your all-time favorite book. What to share? Click on the link below to take our survey (clicking on the link will take you out of the Vesper Public Library Blog). http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=Ak50EQwF21Tvc3o1u5UdWw_3d_3d

Any Suggestions?
Now that I have a way to conduct an on-line book club, do you have any suggestions on ground rules for the book club? This is all new to me, so I'm open to all comments, warnings, suggestions, etc.
Comments
Aha! The ability to post comments to a Blog is just what I have been searching for! I want to start an on-line book club with some of my YA patrons and I was trying to find a way that we could do it privately. If I set up a Blog that only certain users can access and comment on (and I can moderate the comments), I have my book club. Yeah!

RSS
I set up an account for receiving RSS Feeds through My Yahoo. It's where I already had a page set up and where I check my personal Email. I did find several very interesting Feeds that I hope will help me keep up on all the news that's fit to read. One I especially like is PBS's Learning Now http://www.pbs.org/teachers/learning.now/ Not a Library site, but lots of great info. I also added portalwisconsin.org so I can see what's happening in the area.
My Library is getting ready to automate our collection so I set up a feed for the KOHA developer Wiki. I don't understand everything they discuss, but it helps to be exposed.
I am trying to find out how to share the MyYahoo address for my account, but haven't been able to get the information. I can email a view of it if that counts.
I'm not sure how all of this will help our Library or me in my daily life at this point. I didn't spend a large amount of time reading other people's blogs so aggregating them isn't saving me any time. I don't pretend to keep up on every new development in every field. I will hear about the truly important stuff. I'll see how it goes over the next few months and add or delete feeds as I go. Ta Ta for now - JoAnn
